New Fire Station Replaces the City’s oldest Fire Station.
The City of Minneapolis hired trusted design partner Hay Dobbs to program, space plan, and represent the City in the development of a new Fire Station #1 to serve downtown Minneapolis. The Station will fit into the lower levels of a full block, mixed use development designed by ESG. Hay Dobbs met with fire department, facilities, and administrative staff at length to discuss full-time staff needs, individual department needs, adjacency, storage, drying, training and vehicular access in the dense downtown city grid. Hay Dobbs developed a multi-story plan that was integrated into the proposed development nearby but still maintained fire station autonomy.
